Watching families grow is my absolute favorite. I have been photographing the Ortballs family for a couple years now, since Ella was teeny and Jameson wasn’t even school age! One thing is for sure, since the moment I met them, they have always had the absolute sweetest relationship. Now they have their beautiful new baby, Jacob, as an addition to the family! He was SO good at our session, too. It was a little chilly out, so we wanted to make sure he was nice and cozy. I cannot even handle his adorable, especially the little hood with the pom at the end. I die for a good pom. I can’t wait to tell you more about our McKinney Falls photo shoot!
We chose McKinney Falls as the backdrop to our session because the light is spectacular and it is one of the locations in Austin that I feel looks good year round. Even though we’re so lucky in Austin to have warmer weather in the winter, a lot of people don’t love the look of the barren winter trees that make up our landscape until mid to end of March. Because of that, I like to give location options with variety that will look great at any time of the year. McKinney Falls fits that to a tee and was the perfect backdrop for our family session!
We started with our traditional portraits (and some fun ones mixed in!) while the sun was high, then moved into the golden light to get some kisses and snuggles. I try to make sure that all of my family sessions have a few traditional portraits, but most of my galleries are comprised of the VERY best stuff – the playing, the snuggling, the kissing, and the love. At the end of the day, THAT is what I want to capture the most: the way you love on each other!
