When asked to pinpoint my favorite part of photography, I can’t come up with just one. It’s impossible to truly convey how incredible it is to have the privilege of documenting important moments for other humans. I will say, though, that the biggest bonus is when you instantly connect with and adore your clients. Cassie is one of those people that you just instantly love. Her smile is infectious, and she is warm, lighthearted, hilarious, and SO friendly. Cassie hired me for a newborn lifestyle session with a maternity mini session add-on, which is a perk I offer only to newborn session clients. We decided to hold the session in Bull Creek District Park, a gorgeous spot with rocks, water, and the perfect light.
Cassie is a stay-at-home mom to her two beautiful, sweet boys, Elliot (age 3) and Davy (17 months). She is due with #3, Team Green aka surprise gender, this month of May 2019! She and her husband, Matt, met over a decade ago when she was a waitress at a Greek restaurant in Chicago called Athenian Room. He was a “regular” and always ordered the skirt steak. She admittedly developed a crush on him that eventually led to her asking him out. She says, “I still laugh over how creepy I was – I saw him out at a bar and repeated his order to him verbatim because I had it memorized.” She is totally my person. Matt is currently in the Army (which is why they moved here to Austin, Texas from Chicago!) loves food as much as she does, is obsessed with cars, and hates shopping.
Cassie and her family have only lived in Austin a couple months, but they are so grateful for the sunshine here – especially coming from those harsh Chicago winters. When it comes to family activities, they so far love The Thinkery + hanging around Mueller with the kids!
When asked what she’s most looking forward to about expanding her family, she admits how excited she is to see Davy and Elliot with their new baby sibling. “There’s only a gap of about 18-20 months between each kid, which sometimes makes me feel like I’m in a bit over my head, but seeing the way they play together and love each other makes it all worth it. I have an identical twin sister, so I got to grow up with my best friend and hope that my kids will be able to do the same!”
And of course, I had to ask about her favorite pregnancy craving: key lime pie! Yum!
