I met Fiona through a mutual friend when she contacted me about a newborn lifestyle session for her second little girl, Sorcha. When I came into her home for our session, her older daughter, Ezgi (Zigi) was initially a bit shy. I don’t blame her – who is this mysterious person coming in with this big camera, only days after her whole world has been changed by her baby sister’s entrance? It’s really important to me to make newborn sessions about the siblings as much as possible. I remember when I brought home my second and third children, it was the older kids who were most impacted by this shift. Suddenly this new little person needed our time and attention, and it can feel overwhelming for them sometimes. I always want them to feel so special and loved.
Zigi was instantly one of my favorite little people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of documenting. Not only was she a beautiful little girl, but she was so much fun and had this natural energy and zest for life. I can see her running a company someday and taking over the world. She had a Paw Patrol stuffed doll that she wanted as part of our session in our photos. Her parents are my kind of people, because they just shrugged and rolled with it. If you remember back to my Mini Session post, I recalled how our youngest child wouldn’t take photos without eating candy hearts the entire time. My husband and I also just shrugged and went with it, because that was our family – and that was who our youngest was at that point in time. I love when I meet parents who do the same and recognize that these little quirks are precious memories that represent their child just as they are in this season of life.
Baby Sorcha was an absolute doll. She was so sweet and calm during our session, which is always a photographer’s dream. We got some beautiful headshot photos, as well as her rolled on her belly. I absolutely swoon over baby detail shots, too, like little bellies and feet.
